Haohao is an affiliated doctoral student at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR), enrolled in the International Max Planck Research School for Population, Health and Data Science programme. In conjunction with his role at MPIDR, he is also pursuing a DPhil in Sociology at Nuffield College, Oxford, as a Clarendon Scholar, and is affiliated with the Leverhulme Center for Demographic Science. His research is primarily focused on studying human beings, particularly in terms of how they act and interact with each other. His doctoral thesis investigates the US's education expansion, life expectancy stagnation/decline and chronic pain disparities. In addition to his thesis, he works on side projects that examine the link between gender equity and fertility rates in Europe, utilizing agent-based modeling.
