Abstract

Dieser Beitrag beschreibt die amtliche Statistik in Deutschland als politisches Praxisfeld. Die Geschichte der amtlichen Statistik, ihre aktuelle Organisation und wichtige rechtliche Grundlagen werden vorgestellt. Daneben werden Aufgaben der amtlichen Statistik und ihre Relevanz beleuchtet. Anhand ausgewählter Beispiele wird aufgezeigt, dass sowohl die rechtlichen Grundlagen als auch die Daten der amtlichen Statistik oft in einem Spannungsfeld gegensätzlicher Interessen stehen.

This article describes official statistics in Germany as a field of political practice. The history of official statistics, its current organisation and important legal foundations are presented. In addition, the tasks of official statistics and their relevance are examined. Selected examples show that both the legal basis and the data of official statistics are often in a conflicting field of interest.
